Kurt Holder, who was charged with receiving a stolen vehicle, appeared yesterday before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation brought against Holder who is a Senior Counsel at Seed of Power Church of God, states that between October 16 and December 31, 2009 he received one NZE motor vehicle, the property of St. Claire Mohabir.
Police Prosecutor Venetta Pindar told the court that on October 16, 2009 Mohabir was held up at gun point by two men who robbed him of his car and made good their escape. Pindar stated that the two men were arrested and charged with the offence.
The court was then told that on June 16, 2011, police went to Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara at the home of the accused where the car parts were discovered.
Holder was told of the allegation and subsequently arrested and charged with the offence. The 34-year-old Pastor who resides at 35 Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara was granted bail in the sum of $300,000.
He is expected to make his next court appearance on June 27.
