Elton Lambert, Godfrey George and Berbician Gregory Stanley were declared the A, B and C Class champions when the dust settled in the Guyana Draughts Association (GDA) National Open Championship which ended yesterday, at the Mildred Mansfield Sports Club.
Lambert, who was the reigning ‘A’ Class champion was once again in impeccable form, sweeping aside all challengers to retain his crown, while George did likewise in the ‘B’ Class and by virtue of his commanding performance has now been promoted to join the ranks of Lambert and company in the future.
In results of the top three finishers:
‘A’ Class- Lambert came home ahead of Carlton Simon and Wilfred Robinson in that order.
‘B’ Class – George won from Deonand Persaud and Elridge Grandison in that order, while Stanley edged Maurice Primo and Osafo Ward in that order.
