Registration ends today
Today if the final day of registration for the inaugural GT&T FastBall football competition which is set to officially kick off on Saturday July 2nd, 2011 at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Linden.
The hype has been ever increasing and teams are eager to get into competition mode to challenge for the 6 Million dollars in cash and prizes that will be up for grabs in the nationwide tournament.
Awareness matches have already been played in Georgetown, Linden, Berbice (Skeldon), East Coast (BV) and Essequibo (Anna Regina) and now it’s time for the fans in Bartica and West Demerara to enjoy the new and exciting game of FastBall football.
The Bartica Community Centre Ground is the venue for Sunday’s matches in that community that will feature teams from Beacons, Rising Stars, Mil Ballers, Potaro Strikers, Lazio and Riversview.
The Den Amstel Community Centre Ground is the venue on Sunday also with the home team, Uitvlugt, Seawall FC, Meten Meer Zorg, Wales and Stewartville set to match skills.
The Technical staff of the various teams has been studying the rules in order to have a good grip of them so they can masters of this new innovative game which is played for 30 minutes (2 equal halves of 15 minutes).
Teams have been gradually getting familiar with the rules while fans have been appreciating and understanding the innovative rules also.
The no offside offense; five foul violation; running substitutions; four throw off penalty; blue ball being introduced in the 12th minute; 2 strategic time outs (60 secs each) for each half and the 5 foul penalty rule are some of the new innovations that makes the game exciting.
Fans can also look out for a number of giveaways at both venues on Sunday; kick off time at Den Amstel is 15:00hrs.
