With ten days remaining before the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) host its ‘Clash of the Supermotos’ International Drag Race Meeting, at the South Dakota Circuit, the battle will no doubt be for regional supremacy among the three countries to have confirmed participation so far.
Guyana will be defending home turf against the top drag racers from Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname and word emanating from the local entity is that some of the best in the racers in their respective countries will be coming to challenge the Guyanese.
The local contingent which is anticipated to be a strong one will be led by Rondel Dabi and also includes Ernesto Choo, Aaron Bethune, Afraz Ally, Syed Ali, Danny Persaud and Sanjay Persaud among others.
According to an insider, the Surinamese will be coming stronger than previous years and in the absence of the now deceased Raymond Ally, who was last year’s Most Outstanding Driver, they’ve indicated that they will be sending a formidable team to defeat the locals and Trinidadians.
Once again, Suriname’s quest for top honours will be led by Hans Izfer, who a source informed, has opted to drive a Camaro instead of the customary Typhoon.
He will be supported by the likes of Jimmy Chin Konkiem, Oliver Lip Shee and Jacob Yacoob.
Meanwhile, T&T’s quest for top honours will be spearheaded by Aaron Dowridge in his Nissan Skyline R32, Hollister Edwards, who will drive an Alta – 1969 (Rail Type) and Imtiaz Abdul piloting an Austin Mini (Rotary Powered).
The day promises to be one of exhilarating action and fans are being urged to converge at the Circuit to witness some exciting daredevilry.
