As the water level in Kwakwani remains high, efforts are being executed to provide shelter and support for the residents who have been badly affected by the recent flooding.
The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Health continue to distribute relief items to those who are in dire need of them.
Kaieteur News understands that during the past weekend the Ministry of Agriculture delivered a quantity of dry goods to Kwakwani for residents who live at the Water Front and Lamp Island. Some of the items donated by the Ministry to aid the residents are sugar, oil, flour and chowmein.
A press release from the Ministry of Health yesterday stated that the water level was about two feet at Water Front and four feet at Lamp Island recording no increase or decrease in the water level.
Malaria smears are currently being conducted, however; no positive cases have been discovered to date, while no increase of water borne diseases was reported to the health officials.
Drug supplies remain adequately stocked and an outreach was also conducted on Sunday, last, at Aroaima.
