It’s Moen Gafoor again as GASP Open Scrabble Tournament concludes

Moen Gafoor endorsed his status as the leading word former when he disposed of a formidable line up to take the top honours of the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) Open championship in the pavilion of the Maltenoes Sports Club, Sunday afternoon last.
Gafoor registered an impeccable 6 wins from as many games and a positive spread of 677, while Ewart Adams finished second with 5 wins and a positive spread of 455. Colin Chichester also demonstrated some consistency in ascending the podium but his 4 wins and 2 losses saw him compiling a positive spread of 179 to retain the third place.
Gafoor pre-lunch victims were Orlando Michael (1020), Maurice Munroe (258) and RO Michael (146). He returned after the lunch break to dispose of Adam (79), Chichester (63) and Ulric Harris (29).
Adams’ victims were Harris (17), Grace Hercules (137), Chichester (136), and Michael Benjamin (216) while Chichester registered wins against Julian Skeete (74) Benjamin (96), RO Michael (138) and Maurice Munroe (70).
Meanwhile, the steering committee of GASP is currently engaged in discussions pertaining to a date for the national championships. The current national champion is Abigail McDonald. The players would convene for practice sessions this and every Thursday evening at the Maltenoes Sports Club starting at 19:00hrs.
