The Guyana Cycling Federation will run off its premier event of the year – National Road Race Championship – on Sunday June 26 on the East Coast of Demerara.
The starting point will be the Ocean View International Hotel from 07:30hrs with four titles on the line.
Defending the senior title having won for the past two years will be Warren ‘Forty’ McKay who has not been in top form since the NSC three-stage race but he said he would be ready to make in a third straight title.
Christopher Holder is the reigning junior champion, Linden’s Hazine Barrett will defend her female title, while Berbice’ Gary Benjamin is the current veteran king.
The respective category winners will be pushed hard to retain their reign as their colleagues and rivals await the opportunity to unseat them and take glory and bragging rights for the next year. How will it unfold? You’ll have to wait until June 26 when they riders are sent on their way from the Ocean View International Hotel.
Senior competitors will proceed to the Abary Bridge before returning for the finish in front of Ocean View. Junior riders will turn back at Half Way Tree, Mahaicony, while the veterans and females will make their way through the Mahaica Old Road, return through the New Road before making their way down for the finish.
