Yesterday Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, who is currently the acting President, joined members of the Anna Catherina Masjid and other guests, who participated in the annual Quaseeda competition.
The Prime Minister said that it is good that events like the Quaseeda competition are held so that Guyanese can know more about the Prophet and that the event should be held countrywide so that other Guyanese who are not Muslims can know more about it and more about each other.
The Quaseeda competition is the recital of verses from the Quran.
The persons who won first prizes were Anasha Khan, junior female category; Bibi Shakeela Wahab, senior female category; Aslim Bacchus, male junior category and Hussain Shakur, male senior category.
Presidential nominee of the People’s National Congress Reform David Granger was also in attendance.
