Berbice, Essequibo & East Coast targeted
With exactly one week to go before the end of registration for the inaugural GT&T FastBall knock-out football competition, more awareness games are set for this Sunday as the organisers seek to ensure teams and fans are well ceased with the rules and regulations of the tournament.
Last weekend, successful awareness games were held at the GFC Ground with Pele emerging champions of the exciting four-team tournament whilst one game was played at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Linden. More matches will be played in the Bauxite Mining Town.
Attention this weekend however will be focused in Berbice at the Skeldon Community Centre Ground; in Essequibo at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground and BV Ground on the East Coast of Demerara where matches will all kick off at 15:00hrs.
The teams set to ignite the Skeldon Ground are Corriverton United, Rosehall Town United, Liverpool, Cougars, Rosignol United and Courtlanders.
In Essequibo, teams from Dartmount, Henrietta, Queenstown, Charity, Supenaam & Richmond will collide while on the East Coast, BV/Triumph United, Bakewell Buxton Stars, Ann’s Grove, Golden Grove, Victoria Kings and Mahaica will be testing their skills and knowledge of FastBall.
Among the innovative rules which have been introduced to make the knock-out format more thrilling; No offside rule in effect; games are 30 minutes in duration with two equal periods of 15 minutes each; in the 12th minute a blue ball will be introduced, a goal with the blue ball is equivalent to 2; only 13 players (11 on field) can be used on game day with running changes available; two strategic time out of 60 seconds each are available to teams in each half but will not roll over to the 2nd half if not utalised; if a game ends in a tie, sudden death penalty kicks will be used t determine the winner, however the opposing team captain will select the kicker for each kick; after a team accumulates 4 throw off, the next throw off will attract a 6 seconds penalty kick which will be taken from the arc at the top of the box; penalty kicks will be awarded to teams after an accumulation of five (5) fouls, on the 5th foul a penalty kick will be awarded to the opposing team.
Spectators can look forward to lots of giveaways and novelty games at the various venues with Kirk ‘Blue Maxx’ Jardine in attendance.
