Dear Editor,
All sports enthusiasts would agree that there are moments which will be treasured within our respective memories with whichever sports discipline we are a fan of. Personally, I would like to extend congratulations to the Embassy of The People’s Republic of China, The Chinese Association and the Chinese community for the extremely great performance of the Chinese national and first Asian to ever win a grand slam tennis tournament. Li Na just made that accomplishment with the ladies win in the just concluded French Open 2011.
On the other hand, I take this moment to say to the four female athletes namely, Ashley Khalil, Keisha and Kayla Jeffrey and Mary Fung-A-Fat who will be making representation of The Golden Arrowhead at the Women’s World Junior Individual and Team Squash Championships in the USA during the month of July, to go with total courage and bow to no pressure.
The same applies to the three swimmers namely, Britany Van Lange, Niall Roberts and Jessica Stephenson who are the sports ambassadors selected to represent The EL Dorado during the month of July at the FINA World Championships.
Many will agree that we are at a disadvantage because of the lack of training facilities, but I am hoping that their respective mental strengths will be a booster for whatever competition awaits them.
