Ray Sandiford may be fighting in his second professional bout but from all indications he is quickly learning the intricacies of the trade.
Yesterday afternoon, when the boxers convened for the signing ceremony in the offices of Abdool and Abdools Insurance Brokers, Sandiford ensured he sat just next to his opponent for this month end card, Orland Rogers, and shortly afterwards aggressively shoved his hands into his face.
These two pugilists will open the show when the June edition of the monthly ProAm boxing extravaganza gets underway on June 24 next. The card will be headlined by the Revlon Lake/Mark Austin bout for the local lightweight title. The latter fighter goes in with a psychological advantage after defeating the former in the October 2010 edition of the card. However, that was a four round encounter and Lake would definitely relish the longer distance since he will be able to plan a better strategy.
The other boxers on show this month end were also present to affix their signatures to their relevant contracts.
Simeon Hardy will face off with Eversley Brown in a 4 round catchweight encounter, while ‘Dangerous’ Denny Dalton squares off against Trinidadian based Joel McRae in a 4 rounds super/middleweight scrap.
All systems are in place and the organizers have assured the public that they can expect fireworks in the various fights.
