City businessman, Ishwar Chand, was on Tuesday evening tied up, beaten and robbed by two armed men at his Subryanville home.
Reports are that the two gunmen pounced on him around 20:00 hours while he was parking his vehicle in his yard. This publication was told that after the men attacked Chand they forced him into his house where they proceeded to beat and tie him up.
A source close to Chand related that the ordeal lasted for close to three hours. The two gunmen were joined by a third man who was being addressed by the first two as ‘Bossman’.
Reports are that the men spent at least an hour and a half ransacking and searching through Chand’s entire house as they maintained telephone contact with their ‘Bossman’.
The source said that even after money was handed over to the gunmen, a third man arrived at Chand’s home threatening him not to go to the police with the matter.
There are reports, too, that during the incident the businessman was told of all his business deals. It is not clear how much money was removed from the man’s house but this publication was told the foreign currency was all the money stolen as well as household appliances.
It has also been reported that another house in Subryanville was attacked and robbed in a similar manner, hours after Chand’s incident. It is believed that the same persons in the first attack may have been responsible.
