A terrified Soesdyke woman wrapped up all her jewellery and threw it to a man who was threatening to shoot up her house if she did not hand over money that he had earlier demanded.
The incident occurred around 13:00 hours on Sunday at Soesdyke.
According to reports reaching this newspaper, Priya Ming, 18, who works at a restaurant in the district was on duty when she was approached by a group of boys, one of whom told her to tell her brother Randy to leave his girlfriend alone or else he would “f… him up”.
Before leaving, the youth told Ming that to prevent him from carrying out his intentions she and her family must give him $500,000.
Later that day, Ming was at home attending to her children when the youth who had made the earlier demand came to her house. She told investigators that from the verandah of her two-flat house, she enquired what it was that he wanted.
According to Ming, the youth shouted to her to bring down the cash which he had previously demanded, or he would “shoot up the house.”
The youth then raised his jersey displaying a black gun, sending shivers down Ming’s spine.
She became afraid and ran into the house, took out her jewellery, wrapped some up and threw it down to the youth who hurriedly made good his escape along the East Bank Public Road.
The matter was reported but so far there is no report of any arrest being made.
