Lloyd Gibson and Akashani Lall both dominated two categories each to distinguished themselves among their colleagues when the Guyana Karate Federation (GKF) staged its National Junior Championship at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) on
Lall dominated the 6-8 yrs Female Open Kata and then returned to take the honours in the 6-8 yrs Female Open Kumite, while Gibson carted off the spoils in the 15-17 yrs Male Open Kata and the 15-17 yrs Male Open Kumite.
Reports out of the GKF stated that generally the performances were good and all of the participants demonstrated great aptitude of the sport.
The results of the other events contested on that day are: 6-8 Male Open Kata; 1st John McGrath; 2nd Tyler Orderson and 3rd Isiah Seeram. 6-8 Male Open Kumite; 1st Shay Britton 2nd Daryle Walroud and 3rd Jay Evans. 6-8 Female Open Kata; 1st Akashani Lall and 2nd Serena Kumar. 6-8 Female Open Kumite; 1st Akashani Lall and 2nd Serena Kumar. 9-11 Male Open Kata/Kumite: 1st Alexander Cheeks; 2nd Stephen Lutchmedial and 3rd Tariq Dundas.
9-11 Male Open Under-40 kg: 1st Nathan Hackett; 2nd Lloyd Montrose and 3rd Alexander Cheeks. 9-11 Male 40kg Kumite: 1st Tariq Dundas; 2nd Fernando and 3rd Alex Muniram
9-11 Female Open Kata: 1st Aliya Wong; 2nd Kelly-Ann Fortune and 3rd Tashana. Wong.
9-11 Female Open Kumite: 1st Kelly-Ann Fortune; 2nd Samela Britton and 3rd Tashana Wong. 12-14 Male Open Kata/Kumite: 1st Kemo Cornelius; 2nd Shane Wilkinson and 3rd Cuddy Holder.
12-14 Male Under-40 kg: 1st Nial Persaud; 2nd Kemo Cornelius and 3rd Shaqueill Agard. 12-14 Male 40kg+ Kumite: 1st Shane Wilkinson; 2nd Cuddy Holder and 3rd Shem Wilkie. 12-17 Female Open Kata/Kumite: 1st Kristina Cheeks; 2nd Christy Dey and 3rd Amber Lowe.
