Police are likely to charge a number of persons this week in connection with the recent multi-million-dollar heist at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara.
Kaieteur News understands that police detained three more suspects over the weekend. They include a boat owner who allegedly transported the gang.
A former police recruit and his girlfriend who were detained earlier this week, are among those in custody. Police believe that the couple provided information to the gang.
Ranks from CID Headquarters, Eve Leary are spearheading the investigation.
Two Saturdays ago, six heavily armed gunmen dressed in military clothing robbed and terrorised a Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, business family before escaping with just over $8M in cash and jewellery.
The family’s grocery store is located at Lot 52 Meten-Meer-Zorg and is owned and operated by Indranie Bisram, called “Annie”, and her husband Deonauth Judistir.
Ms. Bisram said that her husband was sitting outside in the shop when the gunmen walked in and jumped onto a counter.
They then forced the family to hand over their valuables before fleeing by boat.
