Today, is exactly 19 days since popular businessman, Victor Warner, was murdered and police on the Essequibo Coast are still battling to find a link. The three persons who were in police custody, among them a close female relative and her reputed husband, have been released on a $100,000 bail, each.
Police are maintaining that they have no new evidence in the matter. Meanwhile, the file that has been sent to the Director of Public Persecution for advice into the matter has not returned. Essequibians who were taken aback by the businessman’s gruesome murder, have been expressing their fears that the matter will become a dead issue.
Seventy-year-old Victor Warner’s lifeless body was discovered in a foetal position in his shop at his Lot 11 Richmond residence on May 19. According to the police the businessman, who sustained injuries to back of his head and to his face. Investigating ranks also disclosed that there was no sign of forced entry. Both a spanner and a hammer were discovered at the murder scene.
Earlier in the investigations police said that a quantity of gold that was stolen, was recovered. Millions of dollars reportedly stolen have not been recovered, according to the police.
