Government has written Caribbean Airlines underscoring irregular schedules and cargo capacities being air-lifted out of Guyana.
Kaieteur News understands that last January, the Ministry of Agriculture and the New Guyana Marketing Corporation arranged a meeting with exporters and the Caribbean Airline officials. At that meeting Caribbean Airlines disclosed that it will be providing an all cargo service out of Guyana, increasing the number of flights, and offered a 15 per cent discount to exporters using the facility.
Caribbean Airlines further stated that it was committed to enhancing the cooperation between the airlines and exporters. However, despite these assurances, exporters of fresh produce continue to face challenges of cargo space availability and capacity out of Guyana.
Over the past years, Caribbean Airlines has been providing cargo service to Guyana’s farmers and exporters of fresh agriculture produce to various destinations in the Caribbean and North America, despite irregular schedules.
