June 17 is close off date; action to kick off July 2
Established football teams (male & female) in the Ten Regions of Guyana as well as other groups of individuals harbouring the confidence and determination of claiming the championship trophy and prize in the inaugural GT&T FastBall competition have been busy whipping themselves into competitive shape for this nationwide spectacle.
Registration which kicked off on May 23 will end on Friday June 17 and the organisers (GT&T, Kashif & Shanghai and Hits & Jams) are aiming to attract over 1000 teams for the competition which will see games being played for 30 minutes – two equal halves of 15 minutes – and a half time period of 7 minutes.
Under the Tagline “It’s not just football it’s FastBall” fans, spectators and enthusiasts are in for exciting times during what is anticipated to be fast paced matches with teams aiming to outdo each other.
Registration forms have been printed in the daily newspapers and when completed can be dropped off at GT&T Business Offices around Guyana as well as the Guyana Football Federation Association Offices.
On submission of the registration forms, teams will receive a receipt along with a copy of the competition rules.
The Mackenzie Sports Club Ground in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden will host the first day of competition set for Saturday July 2nd, 2011, their after, games will be played at venues throughout the length and breadth of Guyana.
The grand finale is set for the Guyana National Stadium, Providence on Saturday August 6 with Two Million Dollars and the beautiful locally designed Championship Trophy at stake. Spectators will not be left out as they will have the opportunity to win GT&T giveaways at all the venues whilst being entertained by popular Actor/Comedian – Chris Gopaul.

Following are the rules of the GT&T FastBall competition
1. The Tournament is open to all clubs and other interested teams
2. Teams will be allowed to register fifteen (15) players
3. Registered clubs could register two teams, any club players that was not selected could form an area team or teams and register for the tournament
4. On game day only thirteen (13) players will be used, eleven (11) on field players and two (2) substitutes
5.There will be flying substitution and it shall be done at the half way line. The player entering the field must do so when the player leaving has left the field. Any player found guilty of flouting this rule will be cautioned (Yellow carded)
6.Participating teams must be uniformly attired. (Teams will be lent Branded tournament Bibs during the game)
7. Each game will be played for 30 minutes
a. Two equal periods of 15 minutes. a.b. A half time interval not exceeding ten (10) minutes
b.c. Strategic time out available to each side for 60 seconds. (If a team refuses to use their time out in the 1st half they cannot use it in the 2nd half.
Only the coach can request the time out by approaching the officials. c.d. Time out will be given to a team if they have possession of the ball and the game is stopped.
8. If a game ends in a tie, sudden death penalty kicks will be implemented, however the opposing team captain will select the kicker per kick, from the regular penalty mark.
9. There will be no offside offence.
10. When a ball goes off the touch line, it shall be either thrown in or kicked in from the point it went off and by the opposing team. A goal can be scored directly from a kick in.
11. After a team accumulates four (4) throw off, the next throw off will attract a 6 seconds penalty kick. This kick will be taken at the top of the penalty arc line on a designated mark for this occasion.
12. When a player is sent off he will be shown a Blue Card (instead of the traditional Red Card).
13. When the Blue card Player is sent off, the opposing team will be awarded a six (6) second penalty.
14. When a player is sent off, the team will have to play with a player short for three (3) minutes, at the conclusion of three (3) minutes another player will be allowed on the field.
15. Any player who is sent off shall miss his team’s next game, if the sending off offence warrants a more serious punishment, the disciplinary committee of the GFF and the organizers will deal with the matter.
16. A player who receives two (2) yellow cards in the same game shall be shown the Blue Card and sent off. All other penalties that occur when a player is sent off shall be adhered to.
17. Penalty kicks will be awarded to teams after an accumulation of five (5) fouls, on the 5th foul a penalty will be awarded to the opposing team. This kicker shall dribble the ball from the top of the penalty arc towards the goal.
The goalkeeper shall start the kick stationed on the goal line and will be allowed to challenge the kicker who has six (6) seconds to score.
If six (6) seconds elapses and the player has not scored the opposing team will be awarded an indirect free kick from the spot where the time had elapsed. At the taking of this penalty all the players shall be required to be on the half way line.
18. At the end of the first half, the foul accumulation penalty will recommence from zero.
19. At the conclusion of fifteen (15) minutes in each half, a blue ball will be used for the final three (3) minutes. If a team scores during this period that team will be awarded two (2) goals.
20. The Referee is the sole authority during the game and his decision shall be final.
21. All other rules applicable to football as set out by GFF shall be implemented.
