The victim of a sexual assault is calling on her fellow women in her area to be on the alert for a sexual predator who attacked her a few days ago.
On Tuesday morning the woman was taking her regular morning walk along Garnett Street, Lamaha Gardens, when she was attacked by a man. The woman who asked not to be identified said that a man on a bicycle rode up to her and grabbed her breast.
She said that the incident has left her traumatised and more so, concerned for other women in her area. The woman related that it is customary in her neighborhood for women to walk early in the mornings as a form of daily exercise.
“There are other women walking in this area, and I am afraid that this man may strike again…I won’t want this to happen to anybody else. People need to be aware of what is out there.”
The distraught woman said that she feels the need to speak out since the majority of the women who exercise in the area are elderly and cannot fight off a person if they are attacked.
“There are two lonely alleyways in this area. What if that man goes into the alley way one morning and attacks another woman? This time around it can be more serious,” the woman lamented.
The woman went on to state that robbery was not the motive for the man grabbing her since she had nothing in her hand, no earrings, chain or anything of value on her person.
“It was clear what this man was out to do…I had on sweat pants and T-shirt and that particular morning I did not walk with my I-pod. My hands were to my side and he was coming from the opposite direction on a bicycle and he just grabbed my breast.”
Immediately after the incident, the woman said she walked to a security guard for assistance but the predator was nowhere in sight. He had fled on his bicycle.
However, the woman said she can pick out her attacker in a crowd if she ever sees him again. In the meantime the woman said she hopes that other women in her community are on their alert.
