Dear Editor
Some people just find it pleasurable attacking the Jagdeo PPP/C Administration. They do so for different reasons; for psychological comfort, to stroke their enlarged personal ego, to convince others they are “bright”, to show that they have all the answers and to gain self-recognition if not self adoration.
Some attack the Administration because its like a tonic to them. In short, without attacking the PPP/C they will just wither away and disappear; it’s the PPP that gives them sustenance –without the PPP/C they are nothing. They will be pennyless. Its dialectics upside down.
Just like you have cleptomaniacs, you have criticmaniacs. We all know who they are and the good thing is that they know who they are too.
It is from the pages of certain dailies that they are given safe haven to launch their diatribe towards the PPP/C.
Mao Tse Tung, the Founder of the People’s Republic of China once called such persons “paper tigers”.
The description fits the bill of the modern days “paper tigers”
The “paper tigers” weren’t able to destroy the young Chinese People’s Republic, thanks to the success of the Chinese policies at home and abroad. Is there an analogy here? Of course there is.
The local papers tigers are on the loose and frankly speaking, all they are worth is the $80 or $60 for the newspapers they write for.
It is not so much what the PPP does or does not do that gives them succor, the point is that nothing the PPP does will please them. Were the PPP/C to create heaven on earth they will call it hell.
But wait, there are probably three things the PPP can do to please them; one is that PPP Leaders can attack each other in public, two is that the Guyanese should rebel against the PPP as the people did in Egypt and as they are doing now in Yemen and Syria and thirdly, the PPP should just fold up and shut shop.
The problem is that all three of the above are simply wishful thinking. They just wouldn’t happen. And forget about losing at elections; that too just would not happen at free and fair elections. The PPP/C don’t have to rig elections to “win” it.
Is this being arrogant or factual? Readers would agree that it is more factual than fanciful.
Guyana is a democracy. It has been so ever since 1992 and those who criticize just to satisfy their ego-centricities know the truth; but they prefer to be blind to the truth and to allow their hate and their psychological deficiencies to blur their objectivity and sense of political correctness.
We are bound to have in our midst the critics, cynics, pessimists, absolutists and narcissists some may flourish like barnacles but with a limited life span while others may perish largely due to their Mental Mass Index (MMI). But irrespective of their current existence among decent human beings, in the hereafter they would most likely end up in the Kingdom of Hades.
One thing more. Are they being given too much attention thus adding to their “importance”? No, not at all. It’s not that.
Here’s what matters. We who know better need to expose these people for what they are. We need to write too and not to allow them to dominate the pages of the non-state media. There are lots of people out there; supporters and non-supporters who want to hear our views, who want us to answer these persons who need help.
And don’t be surprised if they latch on to what is written in this letter. That is their nature to do so. They can choose to ignore what I have written but they can’t do so forever. To ignore these comments is to do so to their peril.
