– Budram bags 5-wkt haul
Half centuries by Navin Bahadur Ryan Tang, Uvindra Balgobin, Christopher Calvan and, Elroy Stephney and a fine 5 wicket haul from Ganesh Budram highlighted the second round of the New Building Society 40-over Cricket competition which continued recently in North Essequibo.
At Walton Hall, the host defeated Young Guns by a mammoth 265 runs. Walton Hall batted first and piled up 365 all out in 36 overs. Bahadur led with 72, while Tang supported with 66 and Balgobin 36. Bharat Jaipaul took 2-35 for Young Guns who were bowled out for 99 in 24 overs in reply. Uvindra Balgobin bagged 4-28 and Devindra Balgobin 2-20 for the winners.
At Charity, the home team got the better of Young Achievers by 5 wickets. Young Achievers took first strike and were skittled out for 95 in 21 overs. Naseeb Mohamed with 22 and Tamesh Dhanpaul 18 were the only batsmen that offered resistance against Shazeri Latiff 4-18 and Mario Gildharry 4-16. Charity then responded with 98-5 in 25 overs. Christopher Calvan was their main run scorer with 55.
Meanwhile, in other matches played, Top Gun overcame Titans by 15 runs and Gunners beat Lima by 4 wickets.
Scores: at Richmond, Top Gun 160 all out in 29 overs (Christopher Murray 34, Hemant Buddie 26, Ganesh Budram 5-32, Jageshwar Nauth 2-34, Keron Sewnarine 2-25.
Titans 145 all out in 26 overs (Tendulkar Persaud 23, K. Sewnarine 20, H. Buddie 2-20, Rondell Garraway 2-25, Jonathan Gopaul 2-30).
At Lima, Lima 187 all out in 34 overs, (Amjad Ally 26, Xavier McDonald 3-32, Elroy Stephney 2-22, Neilson Gordon 2-34, Mark Tyrell 2-25).
