Dear Editor,
I commend Mr. Michael Jordan of Kaieteur News for his reporting on the Monica Reece case over the years and his persistence in not letting it disappear from the public’s awareness and his desire to see justice done, and finally bring some measure of closure to Ms. Recee’s family.
As he has stated in previous articles on this case, she was a human being whose life was valuable, regardless of whatever opinion any of us may hold regarding the manner in which she conducted her life.
I don’t believe the proposed inquest will shed any more light on the matter, but I would take this opportunity to assure those responsible for her death and subsequent cover-up, that they, like those despots that are responsible for so many other deaths in Guyana, will one day face the Bar of Divine justice as sure as night follows day.
I have the following questions regarding this case:
1. Was this a simple case of hit and run, (as reported by one “eyewitness”), with her being high on drugs at the time, or was she murdered?
2. Did she in fact jump out of the vehicle as it was travelling at a high rate of speed, thereby sustaining the injuries that killed her?
3. Could she have been beaten (a common practice in Guyana then and now) before she died, and was that beating unrelated to her death and just confused the issue?
4. Was she really beaten or did she simply receive the head injuries as a result of a collision with the pickup truck?
5. Were there other type of bruises on her body consistent with a ‘vicious beating’ before she was killed and not a hit and run?
6. Wouldn’t it be difficult for an individual to push or throw someone out of a truck while it was going at a high rate of speed without losing control of the vehicle? This would have been especially difficult if the person was alive and struggling with them because they knew what was being attempted. If she was already dead would it have been any easier? How does one do this while driving fast and not lose control of the vehicle either way?
7. Were drugs found in her body at the time of the autopsy, or was this never checked and why?
8. If drugs were found in her system, were they voluntary of involuntary administered?
9. Who was the prominent businessman’s son whose name was called?
10. Why were there so much conflicting reports on the description of the vehicle (at least three), such as colour, make, model, etc., and was some of this deliberately planted misinformation?
11. It appears that, as this bizarre case gets reported, more and more “facts” and eyewitness accounts keep emerging, such as “One of the right doors was ajar and the foot of a passenger was protruding from the vehicle.”, which make indicate she jumped out while it was still moving.
12. How reliable are these eyewitness accounts?
13. Why did “ace race car driver” give up the chase?
14. Were the forensic abilities of Dr. Moottoo up to the task of determining any of the above possibilities?
