Donates gears to Forgotten Youth Foundation Boxing Gym
It is not often that sportsmen that would have left these shores and improved their fortunes find the time to remember their compatriots back home.
That is why some of our local sports people, despite possessing talent, disappear into obscurity. Such misfortune could be avoided if there is a viable support system in place.
Newly crowned super/middleweight Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) champion, Lennox ‘Too Sharpe’ Allen proved to be the exception to the rule when he donated several pairs of boxing gloves and mouth guards to his colleagues at the Forgotten Youth Foundation (FYF) Boxing gym. The CABOFE champion made the presentation at the Albouystown based gym one day prior to his bout for the above title against Kwesi ‘Lightening Struck Hitman’ Jones. Allen learnt the trade at the FYF and in handing over the gift he reminisced on his early days in the sport when he practiced devoid of the requisite apparel.
He urged the youngsters to care the gears but to utilize them to the fullest. Former Fecarbox jnr/lightweight champion, Joseph Murray, now coaching at the FYF, accepted the gift on behalf of the boxers and thanked Alleyne for remembering the youngsters.
“These gloves will be used to further hone their skills and we promise to take good care of them,” Murray assured Allen.
