A mysterious fire started just after 20:30 hrs on Saturday evening and destroyed a two- bedroom home at Mai Mai Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam. No one was occupying the building at the time.
According to residents, a man, who works in the gold bush, would normally spend a few days in the house and then leave.
He last occupied the structure on Saturday and left shortly after 15:00hrs.
The cause of the blaze, which residents said engulfed the house within minutes, remains a mystery.
A fire tender from New Amsterdam arrived on the scene but could have hardly assisted since the entire building was already destroyed.
The house did not have an electrical connection.
