Ramesh Kanhai, Paul Waterman, Jerrick D’Agrella and Leon Gibbings, who were charged with break and enter and larceny, appeared yesterday before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The defendants, on May 23, last, at Lot 105 Regent Street, allegedly broke and entered Riaz Computer Centre and stole two Nintendo games, 30 laptops, one LCD flat screen television, 40 flash drives, 20 memory cards, five music boxes, 25 digital cameras, one Samsung music set, four computer monitors, two Ipods, two DVD players, and three Xbox 360.
The items, owned by Rafiek Khan cost $6.6 million. Ramesh Kanhai who resides at Crane housing scheme; Waterman who resides at Lot144 Bel Air Village; Jerrick D’Agrella who resides at Lot 5 Pike Street, Campbellville and Leon Gibbings who resides at Lot 39 Broad Street, Charlestown were not allowed to plead to the indictable charges.
The prosecution stated that on May 21, Khan secured his store and went home. The court was then told that on May 23, about 07:00 hours he received a phone call informing him that his store door was open.
He immediately rushed down to the location only to discover a ransacked store and the articles missing. Khan then went to have a look at his surveillance camera and saw the images of the defendants.
A report was made and the defendants were subsequently arrested.
The four were then remanded to prison and are expected to make their next court appearance on June 3.
