Goed Fortuin ‘watchman’ tied up and robbed

A security guard is thankful to be alive after spending more than two hours tied up and gagged by bandits who robbed his place on employment.
Reports are that sometime around midnight on Saturday four men armed with knives struck at a building located at Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara.
According to reports, 57 year-old Bissoondyal guards the building, which is owned by persons living overseas.
This publication was told that at around midnight four men all masked and armed with knives attacked Bissoondyal.
The man was taken to the back of the building, tied up and gagged. The men then broke into the building and reportedly removed a bag with cash. Reports are that the entire building was ransacked but no other valuables were taken.
A source close to the investigation told this publication that the men then made good their escape with the cash totalling some $200,000.
It was only early yesterday that the watchman was rescued by a caretaker of the property who turned up for duty. The caretaker untied his colleague and the matter was immediately reported. According to a source, the entire ordeal was caught on a surveillance camera but all the men were fully masked.
