13 year old killed on Corentyne Public Road

Savitri Persaud, 13, of Number 68 Village was killed about 14:30 hrs on Thursday on the Number 70 Public Road when a Jeep PKK150 driven by Delroy Mitchell, 26, hit her. Mitchell is an interdicted Lance Corporal attached to the Guyana Defence Force.
It is understood that the vehicle was going at a fast rate of speed in a south-eastern direction heading towards Skeldon.
Persaud who was a pedestrian at the time was with two others walking on the western side of the road when in an attempt to cross  came into contact with the right side of the vehicle.
She was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Skeldon Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver has been detained and his vehicle impounded.
