Dear Editor,
The glaring display of foreigners attacking and disposing of the waste left in the streets in the aftermath of the Mash Day festivities was embarrassing to me. They seemed to be in the vanguard of the cleanup. Likewise, I feel that our government, social organisations and the business sector should also be embarrassed.
Although the City Council I presume played a part in the cleanup, the fervour and work that these foreigners put into the task seemed to be a major contribution.
This was not a natural disaster. Why should we encourage foreigners to come to clean up after us? Hopefully, we will not display this coverage through our TV media in the future, or even allow such foreign input to occur without simultaneous assistance from our local populace.
