The police are seeking the assistance of the public to identify the body of a male of East Indian ancestry in his late 30s or early 40s who was struck down by a minibus around 19:15 hrs on Tuesday.
According to reports a minibus BHH1812 driven by Heamant Ramnarine, 46, of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice, was heading in an easterly direction towards Rosignol from Georgetown.
When in the vicinity of the Amin Gas Station at Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice, the driver was about to negotiate a left turn when he struck the still unidentified male. According to reports the man was wearing a pair of short pants and T Shirt and was stooping on the road.
The man sustained multiple injuries. He was picked up and taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The body is still at the Fort Wellington Mortuary. The driver is in custody while the bus which has a dent on the right bumper has been impounded.
