Samantha Mosley, 34, who was charged with illegal drug possession, appeared yesterday before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that on May 24, in Walker Terrance, East La Penitence, Mosley had in her possession 78 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The defendant, who resides at Lot 35 Walker Terrance, East La Penitence pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to her.
Police Prosecutor Venetta Pindar stated that on the day in questioned, at around 18:30 hours, the police acted on information received when they visited the defendants home.
They then requested a search be carried out during the time which the defendant went and picked up a white plastic bag from a chair and tried to conceal it. She was challenged and asked to open the bag where the item mention in the above charged was present.
Mosley was then cautioned, arrested and charged with the offence. The Prosecution objected to the defendant being granted bail.
