Dear Editor
Everyday one reads in the daily newspapers of corruption, crimes, substandard works and family disruption. In post 1992, many Guyanese felt that such attritions would no longer happen. Dr. Jagan groomed people whom he felt shared his vision of honesty and integrity.
These people have ignored the teachings of this great man. They became egotistical and are only concerned about the welfare of themselves and their associates. They amassed huge wealth while the people are struggling to meet the needs of their families.
In today’s news, Joey is right in saying that we need people of intelligence and skills to run the affairs of the country. There are people of various races who have these qualities. It is time that they unite and make Guyana into a country which Dr.Jagan had wanted. A country with no more discrimination, no more poverty, no more crimes, no more begging of foreign aid and one where all Guyanese are proud to call home.
Dr. Jagan was the founder of the PPP. With Dr.Jagan at the helm, people knew that they had a leader who truly cared for their wellbeing. After his death, this trust eroded because Dr. Jagan’s followers ignored all his values.
The offspring of Dr. Jagan are the only ones who knew the qualities of this great soul. They are the ones who should now be at the helm to ensure that the vision of Dr. Jagan comes to fruition.
Dr. Sherlock Rawana
