Dear Editor,
There seems to be an orchestrated and concerted effort on the part of the PPP/C and its collaborators to make their campaign theme “28 years of PNC”, a strategy they hope will cause the incumbent regime to escape the scrutiny of the Guyanese people.
They hope that by beating the 28 years mantra the electorate will abandon their responsibility to hold the PPP/C accountable for the damning state in which the nation has sunk, over the last 19 years.
The result is that both paid and non-paid surrogates of the ruling elite jostle each other daily in the letter sections of the daily newspapers, to propagate their “28 years maxim.” Their primary mission is to bombard the letter section, and readers, with their cheap propaganda, with the expectation that their frequent and repetitive diatribe will take stewardship off the peoples’ radar.
But Guyanese are not as backward as they perceive us to be. When one reads the ramblings of the PPP/C and its servants it becomes clear as to what the thinking of these people is and what they hope to achieve.
I have said before, that the tactics, strategy, and psychological objective of this regime is easy to discern. Its awkward repetition, and coarse behaviour have exposed the latent motives of its thinking. Its strategy has not changed since 1992 and Guyanese have become familiar with the trend of thought. Simply put, the PPP/C has become a predictable bunch.
In examining the party’s strategy one recognizes that it believes that the over-all value of this “blame the PNC”, propaganda would in some way cause the citizens to hold the PNCR accountable for the madness that parades as government, today. What lunacy! These people believe that we have successfully reached a stage of indolence that they can just take us for a ride. It is ‘moral eye pass’ to actually accept that Guyanese can be hoodwinked into believing that the PNCR must be blamed for the 19 years of the misrule/ no-rule of this intransigent government.
We should all take strong objection to this thinking which is nothing short of the PPP/C assault on our intelligence, as a people.
When a government views its citizens in this morally reprehensible manner, it explains the president’s behaviour and underscores the collective action of the PPP/C and its bandwagon of ‘newsmakers’.
These people hope that by playing the blame game the electorate will refuse to hold this current PPP/C administration responsible for a stagnating economy, the suppression of press freedom; discrimination; rampant corruption; unrelenting crime and insecurity; victimization; assault on trade unions; the alarming drug trade; the problem of human trafficking; the political game called the LCDS; the corruption pointed to in the Auditor General’s report; and the lack of a comprehensive crime fighting strategy.
President Jagdeo’s immorality grounded in the marriage lie; Ramotar’s mismanagement of GUYSUCO; the ailing rice sector; the bauxite workers bread and butter struggle; a malfunctioning education sector; the lack of jobs; the neglect of our youths; Government’s involvement with Roger Khan.
Yes, my fellow Guyanese they believe that we will forget the scourge of torture; the Kwame soliciting sex from minor allegation; lack of potable water in rural communities; the assault on the Georgetown City Council; the alleged Rohee sanctioned kidnapping; the Pradovilles; the corrupt tender board process, OLPF, VAT and so many more issues. These are all everyday issues and do not date back to 28 years of PNC.
The PPP/C came to power in 1992 under a promise to this nation that it will take Guyana to great heights, now almost 20 years later they face the electorate, asking them to blame the PNC for the mismanagement of the PPP/C Government. This must be a damning indictment on the inability of the current regime to manage the country.
What is unfortunate is that the PPP/C feels that in advancing their 28-year mantra it will be in their interest in to justify their indefinite number of wrongdoing by making some specific comparisons.
Therefore, their servant Harry Gill, who has now become an apologist of the Mr. Jagdeo, suggests that the PPP/C government involvement with convicted drug lord Roger Khan is justified because, he tells us, the PNC government was friendly with Rabbi Washington. So he suggests, how dare we speak against the government’s partnership with Roger Khan.
Another writer already addressed the many additional absurd and unfounded claims he made, with regard to the Rabbi Washington story. However, let me add that it was the same PNC government which brought Rabbi Washington to the courts. Did the PPP/C ever try to take in Khan even though the PPP members were aware of his illegal dealings? I wonder which of the two comparisons really establish a true relationship?
The mentality, of the PPP/C seems to be ‘if they do it, we can do it too’.
Another propagandist of the 28-year mantra, one Cedric Lord ( a phantom writer) wrote in the Chronicle, on the same matter, suggesting to Guyanese that since there was some association with the PNC and Rabbi, that it is ok for the current government to be in bed with criminals.
The argument of these people become so pathetic when they attempt to justify the current criminal onslaught by telling us that in the PNC days there was kick down the door banditry. What a shame!
Guyanese must understand from the position of the PPP/C that this government can care less about their safety; they must know that this regime has no concern for their economic well-being if all they are willing to do is to justify the failures of the economy by stating that 47 years ago the minimum wage was lower in dollar terms.
Harry Gill, the Jagdeo apologist, also justifies the PPP/C suppression of free speech and press freedom because he claims, “the PNC were the architects that suppressed Guyanese freedom of expression”.
The inference here is PNC were the architects so the PPP/C will be the executers of the plan. Is this democracy?
The argument of the regime is insane, to say the least, and lack sound reasoning. Their argument breeds contempt, retaliation, and revenge it is indicative of a bizarre psyche. This regime should be charged for, apparent, knowingly and willfully exposing the citizens of this country to criminals, gunmen and contract killers.
A fact they justified by claiming that during the PNC days there was kick-down the door banditry. Every sane thinking Guyanese must reject this ’28-year’ scheme. It is a blatant disrespect to our intelligence and defies all decency.
