The GT Office Assistants Sports Committee will be hosting an Independence Day of Sports this Thursday at the YMCA ground, Thomas Lands, commencing from 09:00 hrs.
According to a release from the Organisers, the activity is being co-ordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, James Lewis, and is expected to see staff members from all the Ministries along with their family engage each other in what is anticipated to produce keen rivalry in softball cricket, late for work race, Athletics, cycling, dominoes and a host of other disciplines.
The feature event on the day’s list of activities is the 10 /10 softball cricket match between the Ministry of Agriculture led by Minister Robert Persaud and the Ministry of Housing & Water which will be captained by no other than its Minister Irfaan Ali.
The release also stated the whole aim of the exercise is to bring the members of the respective Ministries together to enjoy clean fun in a relaxed environment, but also to forge social cohesion through sports.
Up for grabs will be lots of prizes donated by Ministers of Government and Permanent Secretaries.
