Head Coach of the ‘Golden Jaguars’ Collie Hercules was not too happy with the performance of his charges despite their two-game victory against Barbados in their two home games of a 4-game International Friendly series.
‘Golden Jaguar’ Vurlon Mills (No. 17) attacks down the right flank in the Barbados half closely watched by Bajan Captain Barry Skette (No. 2) on Sunday night at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Guyana won the second game 3-2 having to erase a 2-goal deficit at the Guyana National Stadium on Sunday evening. The locals triumphed in the opening game on Friday last at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground 1-0.
Commenting on the last Sunday’s game, Hercules said that the performance was fair but he was not pleased with the lapses in concentration which allowed the visitors two easy goals early in the game.
“We have a lot of work to do; I am disappointed in the goals that we gave up and they came from simple mistakes.”
Hercules is of the view that the team needs to do a better job whenever they have possession of the ball as he looked ahead to the return games that will be played in Barbados on Friday and Sunday.
“Obviously, we’ve only been together for 8 days so we have lots of work to do in terms of our organization and we will get back to doing that as early as our next session.”
Commenting on the performance of the Bajan team, Hercules disclosed that they always knew that they were going to give them {Guyana} a stiff test and be physical.
The Head Coach said that they will continue to concentrate on building a strong team and will be going to Barbados a confident unit.
Behind goals from Reshawn Sandiford, Colin Nelson and Anani Mohamed, Guyana came from behind to defeat the lads from the Land of the Flying Fish 3-2. The Bajans played a tough and physical game and are expected to be even tougher on home soil this Friday and Sunday.
The Guyanese population which is large in Barbados are expected to be out in full flow to back their countrymen this weekend. The ‘Golden Jaguars’ are expected to leave on Thursday.
