A 13-year-old student of Lower Corentyne Secondary School plunged to his death from a balcony after trying to imitate professional wrestlers on television.
Cranston Bennett, of Liverpool Village, Corentyne, and his cousin were playing at home last Friday when the two became involved in mimicking wrestling moves from their favourite wrestlers.
According to the boy’s relatives, they heard a loud scream after which they discovered the lad lying on the ground. They tried to resuscitate him, but Bennett was unresponsive.
His mother, Abiola Bennett, said that she tried on several occasions to revive the boy but was later told by the doctor at the hospital that there was nothing more that could be done, since he had suffered a broken neck.
