Dear Editor,
I would like to draw your attention to the deplorable state of the Diamond Community Center Street (aka Cinema Street) on the East Bank of Demerara. Attached is a picture of what happens on a good day if the Lord permits rain should fall, and what I would describe as total neglect.
This is just one section of the street which is mostly covered with huge potholes; children, the elderly and all other residents of the area are forced to walk in this filthy water as there is no alternative.
By writing this letter I am hoping that you can shed some light on the situation as all of the adjoined villages around diamond and on the East Bank had their streets recently redone however it seems as if this street has been forgotten.
The residents of the area continue to pay their taxes, however, would really like to see some action being taken apart from sand filling of the potholes, which in my view is a total waste of time and money.
Frustrated Resident
