Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) is scheduled to launch the Regional Conference segment of the country’s premier school tournament the 2011 National Schools’ Basketball Festival today, at the Cliff Anderson Sport Hall at 11:15hrs.
The National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) has in the past five years been the largest school basketball tournament with the highest standard of play.
It has also been used as the medium to select players to compete at the Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) each year.
This year the tournament has been expanded to include a wider spectrum of players from several out of town areas.
Digicel Guyana and Banks DIH Limited has renewed their commitment with NSBF this year and facilitated the expansion of the event into truly becoming a national school tournament. The regional conference is expected to tip-off on Friday in Georgetown and next Friday in other conferences.
Coordinators of the event will be able to divulge a plethora of vital information about the involvement of sponsors, the teams participating and the Independence Day Showcase later this week.
The NSBF is expected to include close to 50 school teams competing in five conference zones from areas such as Linden, East Bank, New Amsterdam, Corentyne, East Coast and Georgetown.
