Poor Governance and a lack of Transparency in Football

Dear Sir,
Reference is hereby made to the above caption as it relates to the publication of an article in K.N. 18.05.11 captioned “GFF First Annual Ordinary Congress set for May 27” Wherein it was stated in the final paragraph, “Meanwhile an official of the GFF when asked by Kaieteur Sport about the position with the nomination of Alpha United Football Club President, Odinga Lumumba, stated that the nomination for him submitted by the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) was done without being seconded which made it null and void.”
Editor, when I was duly informed that the General Council of the Georgetown Football Association, at a meeting had deliberated in a transparent manner over its choice of candidates for the three (3) positions up for grabs at the Guyana Football Federation, Annual General Meeting/Elections of Office Bearers, My take on the issue was, “The GFA executive must interact with other associations and affiliates of the GFF for the relevant seconders for the respective nominations.”
Sir the point in question therefore is “since the GFA had their deliberations in a transparent manner at a General Council Meeting, which is the hallmark of good governance and transparency” Then the same must be applicable to all other affiliates and associations of the GFF, which must be reflective in the minutes of a General Council Meeting, failing which would lend credence to poor Governance and a lack of Transparency in Football,” more so, when numerous courses and seminars were held in the past (2years) for administration.
In the final analysis it remains mind boggling that West Demerara Football Association for example had the life of its executive coming to an end since February this year, but was granted a reprieve to continue functioning, providing they would endorse the candidacy of Mr. Klass’ re-election and other candidates of his choice.
With the President of WDFA recuperating from a bout of illness, which individual convened a General Council Meeting to endorse the respective nominations? Sadly, this is in defiance of parliamentary procedure.
