Says he has a surprise in store
Head Coach of the Police Progressive Youth Club Lyndon Wilson in an interview with Kaieteur Sport reported that they are planning to sweep the opposition aside this year when the President’s / Jefford Track & Field Classic is staged on Sunday, at the MSC Ground in Linden.
Speaking on behalf of the club which was narrowly defeated by National Park United at the first edition of the event, he said that they’ve prepared much earlier and more thorough this time and they intend to reverse their fortunes on this occasion.
Wilson said that with prior knowledge of the event being an annual one, the club started its preparations very early and everyone seems fit and focused and eager to contribute to the proposed objective which is to grab the overall title.
He blamed a few cases of injuries last year as the primary reason for their defeat, though not willing to take much away from National Park United who he pointed out had done their homework and deserved to win the crown.
“This time we are not taking any club lightly, but rather will leave no stone unturned in getting ourselves fully prepared for all challenges,” Wilson said.
Not willing to disclose their areas of strength, the vastly experienced Coach would only say that they have a surprise in store and that athlete will be unveiled on the day of the Classic.
He closed by reiterating that his athletes are fully focused and well prepared and fans of the sport should converge at the MSC ground to witness a true Classic that also have as a main event Guyana’s most recognised athlete in Aliann Pompey, who goes up against the cream of the local opposition.
