Finals set for Sunday at the GCC
Defending champions Floodlights, Savage, Regal Seniors and Albion are through to the semifinals in the Stag Beer and El Dorado Rum nationwide softball cricket tournament in the over-40 category.
Following are the results of the quarter final games contested last week.
Floodlights hammered Defenders by 8 wickets. Defenders – 165 for 9 off 25 overs; O. Chandler 60, S. Mohammed 38. Floodlights – 170 for 3 off 21.1 overs; Lalta Gainda 55*, Tulsie Sahadeo 51.
Savage trounced Max Masters by 6 wickets. Max Masters – 226 for 5 off 25 overs; Danny Mohanram 104. Savage – 231 for 5 off 23.4 overs; Lakehram Barlow 73*, Malo Malone 57. Regal Seniors got past Industry Super Kings by 32 runs. Regal Seniors – 132 for 8 off 25 overs; Troy Kippings 38, T. Persaud 3-16. Industry Super Kings – 140 all out; Ishwar Persaud 61, Amarnauth Boodhoo 6-9.
Albion outplayed Success Masters by 10 wickets. Success Master – 86 all out; Richard Kellowan 5-18. Albion coasted to 87 without loss off 8.3 overs; Veerapen Moonsammy hit an unbeaten 73.
In the Demerara Zone quarter finals of the Male Open category – Trophy Stall defeated Herstelling Raiders by 29 runs. Trophy Stall – 176 for 6 off 15 overs; D. Deosarran 48, A Dindial 42. Herstelling – 147 for 6 off 15 overs.
Rockaway blasted their way past Digital Technology. Digital Technology 76 all out; Sackichan Jhagdeo 5-2 including a hat-trick. Rockaway responded with 77; Chandrica Haripaul 34*. Jaguars squeezed past El Commandante by 2 runs. Jaguars – 109 all out off 14.2 overs. El Commandante 107 all out; R. Persaud and Kevin Singh took 3 wickets each for the winner’s. Regal took care of Airport by 8 wickets. Airport – 107 all out; T. Sanasie 4-14. Regal 102 for 2; Zulfikar Ali 67*. In the final female qualifying match, Glamorous beat Better Hope Power Bomb.
