Over 30 to collide at Diamond Community Centre
Members of the Total Fitness Gym are working feverishly towards having their bodies in pristine shape ahead of their Second annual in house competition dubbed Fitness Express/Total Fitness Mania 2.
This eagerly anticipated event is set for the Diamond Community Centre on Saturday June 18 from 18:30hrs where over 30 members will vie for the title of Mr. Total Fitness 2011. Apart from the Bodybuilding competition which will see novice and senior athletes flexing muscles, there will also be a Ms. Total Fitness Best Legs (3-athletes) competition as well as the conclusion of the Biggest Loser (6-persons) showdown.
When Kaieteur Sport visited the Gym, located at Grove on the East Bank of Demerara on Wednesday evening, the athletes and Gym Management were in the final stages of a meeting where the rules and other matters were being discussed.
The Novice competition will be contested in the Under-143 and 155-165 weight divisions while Seniors will match muscles in the 165-174 and over 174 categories.
Reigning Mr. Total Fitness Mania 1, Travis Peters will be the guest poser at this year’s event, the rules states that previous champions will have to skip the one year before returning to compete.
Also appearing on the evening’s programme will be the popular City Dance Group, Dance Fanatics while the Chinese Embassy will also be performing a Martial Arts display.
The winner of the Ms. Best Legs competition last year was Esther Maria while cantering to victory as the Biggest Loser was Edun Bobb.
To date, corporate support for the event has been very encouraging according to Gym Management.
Apart from Fitness Express, which will be donating one hamper to each first place winner and the overall champ, The Trophy Stall of Bourda Market, Courts Guy? Ltd. – Grove Branch, Super Deals Variety Store (Grove), Smally’s Transportation Service, S&R Taxi Service, Mavis Richards, Unstoppable Trucking Service, Digital Technology (Grove), Adesa Pharmacy and Cell FX (Grove) have all chipped in to ensure that Fitness Express/Total Fitness Mania 2 is successful.
