A 31-year-old taxi driver, who was charged with two counts of robbery, yesterday appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that on May 4, at Thomas Street, Kitty, Sherwin Trotman, while armed with a handgun, robbed Padmini Persaud of articles worth $1.3 million. It was further alleged that on May 14, at Middle Street, North Cummingsburg, Trotman along with others robbed Selena Ahmad of a quantity of articles worth $4.7 million. His accomplices remain at large, according to the court report.
The defendant who resides at Lot 45 Section B South Turkeyen, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
Police Prosecutor Vandetta Pindar asked that bail be denied and a date for report set. This application was granted by the magistrate and Trotman is expected to return to court on May 23.
