Master Frank Woon-A-Tai founder of the International Karate Daigaku conducted Karate examinations for student’s of New Amsterdam – Berbice, Albion – Berbice, Linden and Georgetown Karate Clubs at the YMCA Thomas Lands, recently.
Following are the results of those grading examinations:
30 students promoted to 8th KYU; 26 students promoted to 7th KYU; 7 students promoted to 6th KYU; 11 students promoted to 5th KYU; 6 students promoted to 4th KYU; 9 students promoted to 3rd KYU; 5 students promoted to 2nd KYU and 6 students promoted to 1st KYU.
Outstanding KYU students were Shaqueill Agard who moved from beginner to 7th KYU; Daniel Singh who moved from 8th to 6th KYU; Tiffany Andrews who moved from 6th to 4th KYU; Dhiraj Poonow who moved from 4th to 2nd KYU.
After outstanding performances, 10 year-old Tariq Dundas was promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt; 11 year-old Stephen Lutchmedial was promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt and 15 year-old Shane Rahaman was also promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt.
The lone female, 13 year-old Christy Dey was promoted from 1st to 2nd Degree Black Belt.
New Amsterdam Chief Instructor Clinton Moriah after more than 37 years of training and dedication to the sport of Karate was promoted to 5th Degree Black Belt. He is now the highest ranking Karateka in the Ancient County.

Keith Beaton from 1st to 2nd Degree Black Belt; Bhagwandin Persaud from 3rd to 4th Degree Black Belt while Amir Khouri was promoted from 5th to 6th Degree Black Belt/D-Examiner/D-Instructor.
