– 29 buildings searched; cocaine and marijuana found
Over the past 48 hours police in ‘D’ Division (West Demerara/East Bank Essequibo) have conducted a massive operation which has led to the arrest of several persons.
Sometime during Saturday and early Sunday morning a series of raid were conducted in the district during which a total of 29 buildings were searched.
A quantity of marijuana was found and a number of persons were arrested pending investigations into various offences including trafficking in narcotics, break and enter and larceny, rape, wounding, robbery under arms and loitering.
Charges are likely to be laid shortly as investigations are ongoing. Several roadblocks at various points were also conducted along the East Bank of Essequibo, the West Coast of Demerara and the West Bank of Demerara.
