The driver of a Dodge Ram PKK 5546 was injured on Saturday after slamming into a truck at Canje, Berbice.
Police identified the victim as Ishwar Singh, 25, of Lot 10 School Street Cumberland, East Canje Berbice.
The truck driver, Doodnauth Bedessie, works with the Guysuco Rose Hall Estate. Bedessie said he had just turned into Canje when the mishap occurred.
According to Bedessie, he was proceeding towards the Estate to pick up workers when he saw a vehicle coming in the opposite direction with its hazard lights on.
The truck driver alleged that the other vehicle was swaying all over the road. According to Bedessie, he immediately pulled to the corner of the road but the Dodge Ram veered over to his side and ran into his truck, dislodging the axle and twisting the chassis.
Bedessie said he immediately left his truck and tried to assist the driver of the car who appeared to be badly injured.
At the same time another estate lorry was passing and Bedessie and the occupants of that lorry took the injured man out of the car and rushed him to hospital.
