Republic Bank (Guy) Ltd. has renewed their partnership of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Annual Educational and Sports Summer Camp which attracts some for 60 Grade Six students. The company has been maintaining sponsored for the past four years.
The Camp is set to take place in July and August for a total lasting six weeks with the main aim of assisting the students to make a smooth and successful transition to Secondary School.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster said that the students would be drawn from schools in the Lower Corentyne area on a first come, first served basis.
The Camp would be conducted by Port Mourant Secondary School Teacher Rohan Etwaru and coordinated by Assistant Secretary/CEO Nermala Sewdat.
Students will be taught English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Basic Spanish and Integrated Science. The students would also be involved in lectures on Social Issues including HIV/AIDS, Drug Abuse and Peer Pressure.
They will also be exposed to basic coaching in the games of cricket, volleyball and basketball. The main aim of the Club is to make sure that the students enter Secondary School in September 2011 fully prepared to be successful.
RHTY&SC Treasurer Dawn Hicks expressed gratitude to Republic Bank for their continued sponsorship. She assured the Bank that the 5th Annual Summer Camp that would be organised by the RHT Farfan & Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17, Pepsi Under-19, Gizmos & Gadgets Under-23 and Metro Female Teams and all the objectives would be achieved.
Manager of the Rose Hall Town Branch of Republic Bank, Mr. Leon Mc Donald wished the Club a successful Summer Camp while underscoring the fact that the Bank strongly believes in the importance of education.
Interested Grade Six students in the Lower Corentyne are asked to register at the Club’s Office Area ‘H’ Ground or to call 337- 4562 for more information.
