Zorida Fudadin, mother of national senior Four-Day Captain Assad Fudadin and former National Under-19 player Abdel Fudadin was on Friday recognised as the Mother of the Year by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB).
Mrs. Fudadin, a mother of three was described by the BCB as a role model parent who played a great role in the development of her children.
Ms. Angela Haniff, Secretary of the Board and member of the Special Events Committee congratulated Mrs. Fudadin on her award and praised her for the role she played in the development of her two sons and daughter Nabela.
Abdel and Assad, Ms. Haniff noted not only developed into outstanding cricketers but are also very disciplined, committed and focused individuals. All three of Mrs. Fudadin’s children were also highly successful in their educational career.
The Board Secretary urged Mrs. Fudadin to continue to be her children’s best friend and advisor. Member of the BCB Special Events Committee Nermala Sewdat called on all parents to follow in the footsteps of the Mother of the Year noting the important roles parents play in the development of children.
Ms. Sewdat stated that the Board was hosting the programme since they believe in the importance cricketers being positive Sports Ambassadors.
Mrs. Fudadin, in response expressed gratitude to the BCB for honoring her while hailing the work they have been doing in the Ancient County.
She stated that she was proud of her children and disclosed that the secret to being a good parent was patience, understanding and lots of love.
The Berbice Cricket Board Mother of the Year Programme was launched last year when Mrs. Shamshadbagan Chattergoon, mother of the Chattergoon brothers was honoured.
Mrs. Fudadin received a Certificate and two special gifts from the Board.
