Police ranks who visited the area around noon recovered a loaded handgun that the killer had discarded after shooting at residents who had tried to apprehend him.
The suspect is suspected to have visited Montague’s shop at around 01:00 hrs yesterday. According to reports, residents rushed to the scene after hearing a gunshot. They reportedly came face to face with the assailant, who attempted to shoot at them. Fortunately, the weapon jammed and the man fled the scene.
The victim’s body has been transported to the Mahdia Hospital mortuary.
E&F Division Commander David Ramnarine told Kaieteur News that this is the thirteenth murder that has occurred in his division for the year, compared to seven for the same period last year.
