Chanderpaul, Sarwan, Samuels and Edwards in
Georgetown, Guyana – The WICB Selection Committee has named the following 13 players in the West Indies squad for the First Digicel Test. Guyanese Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan have been included. Both were recently dropped by the Windies along with Chris Gayle, with Chanderpaul chiding the management over several issues.
The squad: Darren Sammy – Captain, Brendan Nash – Vice Captain, Devendra Bishoo, Carlton Baugh Jr – Wicketkeeper, Darren Bravo, Shiv Chanderpaul, Fidel Edwards, Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Lendl Simmons and Devon Smith.
Meanwhile, Opener Kraigg Brathwaite who was invited to participate in the two day match will remain in Guyana to work with Batting Consultant Desmond Haynes during the period of the First Digicel Test.
All rounder Andre Russell, who was also involved in the two day match will return to Jamaica. The West Indies Team will have full training sessions today and tomorrow at the Guyana National Stadium in preparation for the First Digicel Test which bowls off on Thursday at 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time).
Today at 11:30am Chairman of Selectors Clyde Butts will host a media conference at the Guyana National Stadium Press Conference Room.
Tomorrow at 11am Captain Darren Sammy will host a pre-match press conference at the Guyana National Stadium Press Conference Room.
