Cummings Electrical is in the process of installing 181 more streetlights along the populated villages between No.12 Village and Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice.
Nigel Erskine, Traffic/Road Safety Engineer of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications made this announcement yesterday.
The contract for the erection of the streetlights was awarded in mid April at a cost of approximately $29M.
Erskine said that the project is 50 per cent complete and is expected to conclude by this month-end.
The scope of the works involves the installation of timber poles with 250-watt photocells on nine-foot arms. The poles are 30 feet high and are placed 50 feet apart.
